Are the Broncos in the market for a nose tackle?

One of rumors circulating at the NFL combine is that the Broncos and Raiders are the two main teams interested in trading for Shaun Rogers.

According to some reports, Detroit does not want to trade Rogers to an NFC team, and that the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders have expressed the most interest in Rogers among AFC teams.

Considering that the defensive line has been one of the Broncos major weaknesses for the last several years, it makes sense for them to take a chance on a player like Shaun Rogers, even if there is some question as to whether his physical conditioning and health will allow him to be productive for a full 16 game season.

When healthy, Rogers can be the dominating force anchoring their line which they have been lacking.  A lack of pass rush and pressure on the quarterback, prevents the Broncos secondary from shining the way it could with even an ‘average’ pass rush.  In addition, having a dominating nose tackle could take pressure and double teams off of Elvis Dumervil and allow him to get to the QB with more frequency.
