While everyone on the Denver Broncos assumes that Peyton Manning will be the starter at quarterback for the next few years (and hopefully longer), anything can happen in the NFL. When the Broncos spent a 2nd-round pick (57th overall) on a quarterback, that was a signal that the Broncos were indeed looking for someone to perhaps be ready to play in a few years (or hopefully longer). No one drafts a quarterback that high without expecting him to be a starter someday.
