While there was quite a bit of speculation that John Lynch might have played his last game with the Denver Broncos, Lynch and the Broncos reached an agreement for him to remain with the team in 2008.

Lynch was due to make $3 million in 2008, which was a steep price for an aging vet on a team with not a lot of cap room.  At the same time, John Lynch was reportedly considering retirement, but in the end decided he wanted to play one more year.

While the four-time Pro Bowler, who will be 37 in September, certainly shows his age in coverage, he is still a great asset when brought into the box to defend the run.  Beyond his physical play, John Lynch is one of the team leaders, and has filled the gap that Al Wilson left as the heart of the defense.

The Denver Post reports that while the final details are still being finalized, that Lynch should be signed in the coming days.
