On Saturday night, Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil was arrested in Miami on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, per Dade County records. Dumervil’s charge is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison. Dumervil posted $7,500 bail according to KCNC in Denver, and was released later Saturday evening. The Broncos had been in touch with Dade County officials, and released this statement on Sunday: “Our organization is aware of the matter and is continuing to gather facts. This is a very serious allegation, and we will thoroughly review the details while the legal process runs its course.” Harvey Steinberg, Dumervil’s attorney, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that “No charges have been filed. No aggravated assault or assault took place. And it is likely that once the full investigation is complete, no charges will be filed against Mr. Dumervil.”
