Aaron Hernandez, Jay Ratliff headline initial practice participation reports for Week 10 (Shutdown Corner)

As they returned to practice following their bye week, the New England Patriots listed 14 players with “limited participation” in Wednesday’s practice, including tight end Aaron Hernandez, who missed the London game against the St. Louis Rams with an ankle injury. Hernandez turned 23 on Tuesday and will likely be available to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. In addition to Hernandez, Patriots wide receivers Brandon Lloyd (knee) and Wes Welker (ankle), tight end Rob Gronkowski (hip), guard Logan Mankins (calf/hip), right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back/knee), linebackers Brandon Spikes (knee) and Don’t'a Hightower (hamstring), cornerback Kyle Arrington (concussion) and safeties Patrick Chung (shoulder) and Steve Gregory (hip) were limited. The Bills were without six players for Wednesday’s practice, including wide receiver Steve Johnson (thigh), right tackle Erik Pears (hip), defensive tackle Kyle Williams (ankle) and defensive end Mark Anderson (knee). Johnson is expected to return to practice on Thursday and should be available for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, who had 17 players either limited or not participating in Wednesday’s practice. Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon missed Sunday night’s win over the Dallas Cowboys with an ankle injury. The same ankle kept Weatherspoon from practicing on Wednesday, but his status for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints has not been determined. While Weatherspoon was out, the Falcons listed defensive tackles Jonathan Babineaux (hamstring) and Peria Jerry (knee), left tackle Sam Baker (ankle) and cornerback Asante Samuel (hip) as “limited” participants. Saints running back Darren Sproles (hand) and right tackle Zach Strief (groin) did not practice on Wednesday. Good and bad injury news for the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday. Wide receiver Dez Bryant (hip) returned to practice, as did running back Felix Jones (knee). The Cowboys were without nose tackle Jay Ratliff, who re-injured his left ankle in the second quarter of Sunday night’s 19-13 loss to the Falcons. Running back DeMarco Murray (foot) was also not participating in Wednesday’s practice. The Cowboys travel to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Eagles placed right tackle Todd Herremans (foot) on injured reserve and if Wednesday’s practice is any indication, the offensive line is getting a bit of a shake-up as King Dunlap played on the right side while Demetress Bell moved over to left tackle. The Eagles were without running back LeSean McCoy (illness) and right guard Danny Watkins (ankle) for Wednesday’s practice.
