DENVER (CBS4) – Some Denver Broncos players made good use of their day off on Tuesday to help out in the community. Four Broncos helped prepare sides dishes for the annual Thanksgiving community dinner sponsored by the Salvation Army. Eric Decker, Chris Kuper, Ben Garland and Joe Mays took off their helmets and went to work in the kitchen. Mays was on potato peeling duty. “It’s easier said than done, especially with me since I’m not very handy in the kitchen,” Mays told a CBS4 crew as he was peeling. LINK: Salvation Army

The Denver Broncos will be without running back Willis McGahee for the remainder of the season as Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports the 30-year-old will be placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a torn medial collateral ligament and compression fracture in his right knee. “Broncos are putting Willis McGahee on IR, ending his season. Tough, tough blow,” Glazer tweeted on Wednesday morning. McGahee was expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with the injury, which occurred when his knee was hit by the helmet of San Diego Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer during the second quarter of the Broncos’ 30-23 win on Sunday. McGahee underwent an MRI on Monday, which revealed the severity of the injury. Initially, Fox said that McGahee would not be placed on I.R., touting the running back’s healing ability and a recovery time frame that would allow him to return for the post-season.
