Week 10 Splash Plays: Saints ride big moments to upset win (Shutdown Corner)

Your RedZone review of every touchdown scored in Sunday’s morning and afternoon games can be seen above, but we’ll start this week’s specific Splash Plays review with a trio of moments that helped the New Orleans Saints pull the Atlanta Falcons from the realms of the undefeated with a 31-27 upset. Chris Ivory’s TD run Halfway through the first quarter, Saints running back Chris Ivory hit the right edge, broke a bunch of pseudo-tackles, and made Atlanta’s usually stout run defense look positively silly. Lance Moore’s one-handed grab Early in the third quarter, and with the Saints holding a 21-17 lead, receiver Lance Moore took a Drew Brees throw over the middle, took it in with one hand and full extension, and kept the drive going. The 29-yard play upped the momentum, and Brees ended that drive with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Marques Colston. Jabari Greer’s big red zone stop The biggest and best Saints play preserved the lead and forced the Falcons into desperation time. With 1:46 left in the game, Atlanta had fourth-and-goal at the New Orleans 2-yard line. Roddy White ran a crossing route that’s going to work 99 out 100 times, but this was the exception — because Saints cornerback Jabari Greer stepped in and made the killer deflection. Trindon Holliday’s return touchdown … and premature celebration For the second straight week, the Denver Broncos speedster hit a return for a score … but upon further review, it would appear that Holliday flipped the ball in celebration just before he crossed the goal line. No harm, no foul, though — the refs didn’t check it (though someone is supposed to review every scoring play), and play resumed as normal in what became a decisive Denver victory. Jacoby Jones’ uncontested return touchdown No controversy here — this was just the pure speed of Baltimore Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones, as he took a kick return five years in his own end zone and zoomed upfield through a gaggle of Oakland Raiders special teamers who didn’t seem that interested in tackling him.
